Yesterday I was looking at a book of Mother Goose Nursery Rhymes that Guin had. It made me want to find the version that I grew up with. I haven't found the version I was looking for, but I did find a version I remember from my childhood-Richard Scarry's Mother Goose. Either my family had two different versions (not to surprising if we did) or I got this one all the time from the library.
Of course surfing Amazon in this case doesn't really help because the version I grew up with is most likely out of print and it is older than most I am finding on Amazon that have pictures. It doesn't really do much good when there are more than 800 Mother Goose books listd in the kid's books section of Amazon and I'm looking for a specific edition.
What I remember about the version I grew up with:
The rhyme (riddle?) of St. Ives had foxes in the illustration (or maybe I'm mixing up the two versions--Richard Scarry's and the one I am looking for).
For Jack Sprat the wife was sitting under a tree holding an empty plate.
Four and Twenty Black birds baked in a pie had a very surprised looking king looking at the birds flying out of his pie.
Mother Goose was written in multiple colors on the spine.
It was Hardcover and had something like Treasury or Collection in the title as well.
For the Queen of Hearts (Has Lost her Tarts) there was the knave sneaking off the page...
Yeah, ok, my memory isn't too good. I'll recognize it when I see it, but descriptions are going to be vague. Maybe I'll just call my mother and ask her if we still have that version. That will probably be the best way to find it.

I remember one that my grandma had at her house. It was hardback and I remember that the cover (I think) had black and white checkers. I think I saw it once in a Church nursery too.
